If you have or are thinking of setting up a directory website then you need to think carefully about how to market it. It is often said that you need a large budget to start marketing a directory website as you not only need to market to the people who you want to use the site to find businesses they want but also to the businesses to list on the directory in the first place.

Often it is a bit of a catch 22 situation, as no one is going to want to pay a premium price to list on a directory that has no traffic to it, but you are not going to get traffic to the site if the directory is empty.
